Show #15 - Toy Room Tantrum
We’re back from vacation and ready to Play, but before we get those toys out they need a bit of organizing. Maja’s major headache is her Toy Room!
In our “Toy Room Tantrum” episode today we’ll explore what you need to create an organized and functional toy room that your kids will love, and will hopefully ease that clutter headache for all the moms who listen in.
How to do it:
1 - Shelves (tall ones are best)
2 - Baskets and Bins
3 - Labels or Graphic picture for front of the bin (take out your camera and snap pics of what goes in, your kids will pick it up fast and be able to put away toys in a snap)
4 - Ditch the big ole’ Toy Box (it’s a black hole!)
5 - Widdle down your toy collection and be ruthless. Don’t forget our Mantra - “Top to bottom, left to right, focus, Focus, FOCUS!”
6 - How to maintain it is simply to have quick cleanups twice a day, then it’s simple and fast to keep it organized and beautiful
*If you have an area in your home or office that requires organizing, but you just don’t know where to start, shoot us an email to: thesavvyorganizer@gmail.com and your question might be featured and answered in an upcoming episode.

Maja,
Okay, so this has nothing to do with organizing, but as I was surfing the mls listings (my favourite time waster), I came across this house for sale in Eagle Ridge, I think it’s one of our faves. Check it out

and the listing is #C3337574
Plus, please come organize Olivia’s room. I need help

Hmmm, a huge bin of dinosaurs huh? Sounds like something we might like over here!
My problem with toys is that I keep everything. All of the happy meal toys, the old toys, the broken toys. I seriously need to purge. And get shelves.
I think my organizing buddy is sending me vibes- clean your toy room!
Shelves and baskets are a great idea. I will start looking.
You’re so motivating- thanks Maja!

I’m working on my kids toys today, and man it’s a huge job! Crazy how much stuff we accumulate and how many broken toys are kept around.
I’m being ruthless today and blessing the world with the ones my boys have outgrown and don’t play with. The broken stuff is outta here. I’ve got my bins going, my labels printed…all I need are some shelves to put our bins on.
Thanks for this one Maja, I’m working hard to get my kids toys back in order. They might actually rediscover alot of them all over again!

PS - do you recommend clear plastic bins or can they be colored? I have a bunch of solid color ones around that I think will work, but is is necessary to see inside?
I’m guessing that with a good label on the outside that your kids can understand you’d be ok???
