Good ideas in this podcast! An idea that came to mind when you were talking about the list of things to do to get ready was that it would make it extra easy to prepare if we made up a checklist to print out and use every time. Also a reusable packing list for self and children and a list of travel foods to minimize the planning effort. Why take so much time to brainstorm things over and over and over again?

Something that has helped my husband and I is to divide up the preparation list so that we both know what we have to do before we leave. I think this is something that kids could be involved in too so that they aren't always saying, "When are we going to go?" About 15 years ago I was one of those kids asking the same questions and my parents seemed to have so much stuff they were doing that I would have liked to help with so that we could get going faster..

Thanks for the show Maja. I shared this on Boutique Cafe, as I know there's a ton of families preparing to "roadtrip" now that school is out in the U.S.!

I'd love to come home from a trip with as little recovery time as possible. That would be heaven!
